RekoPay – Privacy Policy

RekoPay ("we", "our", "the app") is developed and maintained by an independent developer. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app accesses, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information.

1. What RekoPay Does

RekoPay is a soundbox-style payment alert app for Android. It reads incoming payment notifications from supported apps (such as UPI/payment apps) on your device and announces the payment details (e.g. amount received) using text-to-speech, similar to a physical payment soundbox device.

2. Permissions We Use

Notification Access To detect and read incoming payment notifications so we can announce them via voice.
Display over other apps / Foreground Service To keep the announcement service running reliably in the background.
Audio/Media playback To play the voice announcement.
Storage (if applicable) To store your app preferences (voice, volume, alert sound) locally on your device.

RekoPay does not request access to your SMS, contacts, call logs, or banking credentials, and does not require you to log in with any payment provider.

3. Information We Collect

  • Notification text from supported payment apps is read on-device solely to extract the payment amount and announce it. This text is processed locally and is not stored on our servers or shared with any third party.
  • App preferences (selected voice, alert volume, enabled apps list) are stored locally on your device.
  • Advertising data: If the app displays ads (via Google AdMob), Google may collect device identifiers and usage data as described in Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. You can manage ad personalization in your device's Google Settings.
  • Crash/analytics data (if enabled) may be collected in aggregate, anonymized form to help us fix bugs and improve performance.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Data Storage & Security

All notification processing happens locally on your device in real time. We do not operate a server that stores your payment notification content. Reasonable technical safeguards are used to protect any locally stored preferences.

5. Third-Party Services

RekoPay may use the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policy:

  • Google AdMob (advertising)
  • Google Play Billing (for any in-app purchases/subscriptions, if applicable)

6. Children's Privacy

RekoPay is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Your Choices

You can revoke Notification Access permission at any time from your device's Settings, which will stop the app from reading notifications. You can also uninstall the app at any time to remove all locally stored data.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
